I have been blogging for six months now, at least three times a week, more often five. So after talking with my sister last night who knew I sounded tired, I still am not a 100 percent, she said “Take a break let something go for a little bit.”
“I guess I could take a week off from blogging” I responded.
“Hello!” was pretty much her response.
Let me just pause here……When I talk to my siblings one might hear them responding with an “aah-uh, aah-uh”(like a yes) I hear much more, I hear the hesitation, the “Absolutely!”, the “Say that again?” I feel ageless when I talk to them I could be ten , eighteen, twenty-seven, and so-on. I also feel the closeness, like why didn’t I share this with them yesterday, they could have made sense out of it. I’m a lucky one of five, right in the middle, which can feel like being tucked into bed with comfy blankets, a good feeling. They know me and can be both comforting and honest with me. So when my sister said “Take a break already.” it was like “Yeah why didn’t I think of that?” hence the beauty of siblings. So until next week, katy

Hi Katy, you certainly deserve a break. You’ve set an incredible pace that not many could keep up with – me included! When I first started my blog last March, I told myself that I wasn’t going to set a pace or a limit, and just blog when I felt like it. Sometimes weeks have gone by without a word, and that’s okay. Otherwise, I would have burned out in the first few months! Creative people like you who have such a prolific stream of artistic ideas also need time to rest and incubate, or else the well can run dry. You can’t always be in a place of such high output – it’s the same with the learning curve. It’s great when we’re taking in information that motivates and excites us, but we also have to take time to process and apply what we’ve learned before we can take the next step. With learning, there are rises and plateaus – with creative work too. Take this time to nurture yourself, rest up and refill the well. You’ve given us so much – let us fellow friends and bloggers give to you for a while. Sit back and enjoy the quiet moments, read a good book, play with your children, take a bath, even better, a long afternoon nap. We will miss you in the meantime, but know that you are taking care of yourself and that you will be back when you’re ready, with that beautiful light of yours burning even brighter than before. I do so admire you and everything you do!
