The other was one of those “I not really even paying attention just layer pieces of clay and poking holes” yes, poking holes into a bowl, very practical. Even with the “Made under the influence of insanity” quality that both bowls have, I’m using them, one for shells the other for beach glass. Sometimes I have to just accept what I make “There must be some rhyme or reason” I tell myself, half convincingly.

Oh my, those bowls are gorgeous! It seems like your creativity has no boundaries – you just keep pushing the envelope and coming up with the most original, beautiful pieces, it’s almost scary! I’m working on an assignment in my ceramics class right now that is challenging me to loosen up my style, and scary is the word for me. The same thing that happened with my painting is happening all over again with my pottery. I play it safe most of the time. But I truly am going to try and push myself harder to break some rules and see what happens, and you my dear cyberspace friend, are my best inspiration!

Melynn, thank you for those ultra kind words. I went back and forth about posting these bowls because I kept wondering if they actually qualified as bowls. Isn’t it funny how we can talk ourselves out of taking chances as we create and give ourselves boundaries. That is what ended up changing my mind about posting the bowls I thought “Maybe these will let people know that even the things that I make that I think are “a little out there” I still keep and share because maybe they will mean something to someone even if they leave me puzzled.

Oh, these bowls are just beautiful. Love how the details in the flowers come out using the black glaze.
